Production Process Granite slabs & Marble Slabs

We always witness the end product of the production cycle of granite slabs and marble slabs. However, production process is methodical approach to mining of product to the making of end product. The fragility and peculiarity of the material impose restrictions and rules in every single phase.

Production cycle: The various stages in production process of granite slabs and marble slabs are discussed below. The first step is gang sawing followed by hand-resin gluing, reinforcing, automatic resin filling and slabs line polishing. Each process is essential in the formation of final product.

Gang Sawing

Natural stone slabs of varying thickness come out of sawn. The thickness of granite and marble slabs is pre-decided. Diamond blades are set on power loom through vertical gang saws. These vertical gang-saws work at a sawing speed which varies from 4cm per hour for the hardest granite to 40cm/hr for soft limestone. Three factors define the sawing characteristic and cutting speed of diamond blade. These are 1) the demanded thickness of natural stone slab and 2) physical and technical peculiarity of each stone. These two characteristics prevent the collapse of bock during gang-sawing.

Hand Gluing

Natural stone slabs are not fit to be used for construction purposes without proper hand gluing. This process makes it possible to highlight the veins and make the granite and marble slabs worth using in different textures. This is done to make the structure harder and veined with epoxy resin through skilled hands and latest technology. This phase is important to make use of marble and granite of beautiful shades which are otherwise non-usable in buildings.

Reinforcing

Reinforcing is must to quantify the flexural strength of veined marbles. Epoxy resin is poured on the backside of natural stone slabs to fill-in all the micro-holes of the marble slab during oven-drying catalyzing. Marble slabs are reinforced with glass-fiber wired-net glued by resin on backside of weak slab to strengthen it.

Automatic Resin filling

Automatic epoxy resin filling is to produce high quality natural stone slabs. Colored epoxy resins are sprayed and spread on the front side of slabs and catalyzing process goes on inside catalyzing process of vertical line of drying process. The mixture of resins is different for each granite and marble slab, based upon the porosity, strength, color and veining pattern. The resin fills in each micro hole, making it stronger and ready for use in architectural buildings.

Line Polishing

The natural color of marble slab and granite slab gives a matt-finish. It is polished to make it look brilliant. Slabs are arranged in a line, washed under pressure to remove any powder, resin or glue residue from the surface. Slabs are installed for oven drying and subjected to rotating pressure of polishing heads in increasing order of sharpness.

Surface finishing treatments include honing, flaming, antique-finishing, sand-finishing, bush-hammering, and cleaving.

Cutting and polishing

The final product is customized as per customer specifications. Cutting machines are available in different sizes for complete and perfect natural stone slab cutting. Individual pieces are polished for ultimate quality pieces.

Quality control and packaging is the final process to endure quality of the natural stone and pieces are packed in wooden crates for safe reaching at pre-defined and pre-set quality.
