  1. Sort out your sound quality – give the other guy a mike! There’s no point
in asking him a question if we can’t make out the answer.

  2. I had an old man many years ago teach me how to lay these blocks,i had to
build it 20 feet high and 20 feet long, first the steel rods ,every other
block 4 blocks high and he showed me the correct way to lay blocks with his
help, then he says to me,you can finish the wall the rest of the way up,i am
getter to old to go on.it took me a total of 3 weeks to finish it by
myself,,that was a job,i respect anyone who has done or does this for a
    living.POWER TO YOU.

  3. I believe that the block that Bob Vila was laying his block upon was
upside-down. The “webs” on concrete blocks are wider on one end and that’s
the end that goes up. It’s amazing that so few people know that. There
should be rebar embedded in the footing for the blocks to be threaded upon.
Then the holes where the rebar is should be filled in with mortar or
concrete mix. That will pin the wall in place very effectively. Not very
impressed with the contractors technique. He should be able to load a
trowel and butter the top inner and outer webs in a four foot section in
about five seconds. Of course, he’s not in “Piecework” mode in this clip.
Pretty good video for the ignorant or first-timers I guess.

  4. Hello, I’d like to know please, do you not use steel reinforcement on
    concrete block walls?

  5. I need a concrete fence. My neighbor dog are breaking the wood fence. Do
you need a permit to put a cement fence on my property?

  6. What a surprise, the guy that does this all day long is better at it than
Bob. Let’s make sure and mention this a few more times in case anyone
    expected something different.

  7. Laying block isn’t nearly as easy as it looks, way more complicated then
stacking blocks together like legos. A real block layer lays blocks like
that all day with one hand and you will hardly ever see him put his trowel
    down.

  9. what you need before this though is how to lay your corners and use a chalk
line. the corners are first and the most important part.
